Most hated subject at school.

Mathematics.

In this day i will talk about my most hated subject at school. I finish my school in 2008 at the age of eighteen years old. In that time i believe that subjects in school was useless, in general. I was a good student in subjects like history, language, philosophy, art, but not in science subjects. And mathematics is a science. Is logic pure.

In that time my teacher was Marta Arriagada, a small person with no passion for teaching. I was one of those students who needs big explications for the problems. And Mathematics in that way there are axiomatics, the things are only in one way, not other.

I remember one day in school in that i ask a question to Marta. I ask, Teacher: ¿why two more two are four? She look at me like "oh my god help my with this kid", and she answer me with this: "Antonio, go back to your homework please", and no more.

Since that day i think my teacher was a terrible teacher, she was unable to wake up my interest about that área in particular, at the contrary, since that day i began to down my califications, and i was an incompetent student, of course not all was responsability of my teacher, but i think that a teacher is a guide, and if is not capable to guide their students, maybe is not a good teacher.

Now i think that mathematics are so useful for the daily life, like shopping, to organize the time, to organize the money that you have, to measure distances, quantify the space that surround you, and in my case to use it for art.

  1. I agree with you, a teacher must be a guide, specially with the youngest kids.
it´s good that now you can use the mathematics after that horrible experience.

  2. I also agree with you, it happens to me something very similar with my biology teacher, anyway it's important to keep learning as you say.
